Foreign investors are not permitted to engage in margin trading in the Vietnamese securities market. Pursuant to Article 9 of Circular No. 120/2020/TT-BTC issued by the Ministry of Finance, securities companies are only allowed to provide margin lending services to domestic investors, thereby excluding foreign investors from eligibility for such services. In addition, under the trading principles set out in Circular No. 51/2021/TT-BTC, investors are required to ensure sufficient funds or securities prior to placing trading orders. Accordingly, foreign investors must comply with a full pre-funding requirement and are therefore prohibited from utilizing leverage through margin financing in securities investment activities in Vietnam
